I have tons of images on my desktop.
To make use of these to generate Color palettes, I need to upload them to my phone?!

Ai can give more Transform information

The Transform pallet in Adobe Illustrator cc 2014 can be very informative, but why doesn't it reflect the transformations of a text object? Ai must know the rotation and shear value, but it says zero in the Transform panel.

Repair duplicating sequential numbered Compositions

Try this in After Effects CC 2014:

Make a Composition and name it 'Composition-1'.
Select it, and press cmd-D (Mac).

Move Creative Cloud Files-folder

I need to share a severe amount of data. Usually I do this by WeTransfer, but I would like to use the Creative Cloud Files-way.

But the Creative Cloud Files-folder can not be moved to my Data disk. It must reside on the System disk, which is a small SSD in my case. Why can't we move it, or use an alias?

Or can we?

After Effects should have Time Snapping

For many motion graphics projects, it would be nice to have temporal snapping (an (invisible) grid in the timeline). Currently we have to position it manually and watch carefully to the time indi-pronecator, which is time-consuming and error-prone.

We should be able to snap to whole seconds, or set our own time spacing grid.
And when introducing this, it would be nice to have a cursor-key-time as well.
Nudge 5 frames in time. Or whatever custom setting.

C4d Reflectance Channel Fresnel Presets vs types

In the all new fantastic Reflectance Channel of a C4d Material, there are to type of Fresnel available:
Conductor and Dielectric. Further more there are a bunch of presets for all kinds of materials.

In my opninion the Presets should be in a single list, since it's not always known to which type of Fresnel the belong. Now whe have to look in both types to find a specific preset.

E.g. Mercury shows up only when Conductor is selected.
I think Preset must reside above Fresnel (type/model).

Relative (internal) paths in After Effects Projects

When working on a complex After Effects project for (in my case) a series of television programs, I like to make subfolders for each episode.
Most of the time, I make a copy of the previous episode and then rework it to reflect the needs of the next.
But when a folder is copied, the links to PreComps and footage, appear to be absolute: these keep directing to the PreComps and footage that reside in the previous folder.
This results in me having to replace all PreComps and footage manually, which makes the effort of copying folder less worthy.


I would love to have the choice to make links relative. In that case a copied folder links to the copied footage and PreComps.

Solutions are welcome!

A larger Edit HTML input window in Muse.

Since Muse is great for designing, but a bit limited in features,
once in a while a lot of code is needed to get what you want.

I'm happy to work on a 30" monitor.
But Muse gives me an unstretchable window for HTML-input.
So I can only see 15 lines at a time. Why not gige us the possibility to scale it?

Lock After Effects Compositions

When working with complex Projects, it would be convenient to prevent certain Compositions from changing.

More specs for After Effects Preview

After Effects is very picky when it comes to real time previewing. It wants us to select a zoom level that correspondents with the resolution, does not like >8bits color, and is slow when a color workspace is selected for the project.

Why not give the user the option to ignore these and let it preview without workspace and in 8 bits or whatever we slect for the preview? Maybe even the codec?

Now we can only select Resolution and framerate.

Open Adobe documents by double clicking the file in Finder

In the past, we could double click a file, resulting in the Mac starting the application associated with it, and then opening the clicked file.

But since these fancy and helpful splash-screens (Ae, Ai), what's new promo's and new document dialog-things, this no longer works.

When a file is double clicked, the application starts, and the splash screens show, but the document is not opened.

Very annoying.

Please repair this.

Dutch translation of 'backspace' in Apple TV

In Dutch Apple TV's search menu, there are two options at the bottom of the alphabet: 'verwijder' en 'wis', which both are synonyms. (Both meaning 'delete').

So each time I need backspace, it's not clear which option to use. Wouldn't it be better to use the backspace-arrow of the Apple keyboards?

More intelligent New Document dialog for Adobe Illustrator

Wouldn't it be nice if Adobe Illustrator remembers the (5) most recent used document setups for a  new document. In that way, the presents are kind of self learning.

Shortcut to Expand traced images in Adobe Illustrator?

When working with Image Trace, I usually end up with an 'Expand'. The Image Trace controls float beautifully and handy, but it lacks an Expand-button. To use it, I have to find it in the menu (Object/Image Trace/Expand). A button is desired.

C4d - A more intuitive mapping for the wood shader?

I have a problem with mapping:

When applying wood to a cylinder, I always want the annual ring to be visible on the caps, and just the veins/nerves in the length direction.

But neither the UVW-mapping, nor the Cylindrical-mapping lets me achieve this without adjustment. And when rotating the Cylinder mapping, the GUI is very contra-intuitive.

Does anyone have a tip on what I am doing wrong? Or should love C4D just be more intelligent when it comes to apply procedural materials to procedural primitives.

Use All Masks as 'Mask Reference' for and Effect's Compositing Options

A great new AECC2014 feature allows us to make use of a mask for specific effects applied to a layer. But I miss the 'All Masks' option here. Sometimes one mask is not suitable to do the job. Now we need to apply the effect multiple times to make use of the feature (or create it the old way, using an Adjustment Layer).

I hope the All Masks option comes available in the next update.

Another nice future feature would be to integrate the blend modes here as well, so e.g. a Gradient Ramp or Fill effect can be applied with a specific blend mode.

Let AE icon count down when rendering

At this moment, After Effects' icon in the Dock (I am a Mac user…), reflects the number of the current render. When we have 30 items in the Queue, render 9 will be shown as a '9' in the icon.
When we have 12 items in the Queue, render 9 will be show as a '9' as well.
This does not make much sense in terms of progress.

Why not let it count down, so the icon reflect the number of renders to go!

Please add all interpretation parameters to the import dialog

When importing footage, a panel is presented, where we can choose some options about alpha interpretation. It would be nice to have the other interpretation settings in there as well: framerate, field dominance etc. Now we have to go to the interpretation settings afterwards.

So please give us this complete panel, at import stage:

For some reason, numbers are not allowed in Typekit's preview text box.
Why? I want to preview numbers there as well!

Adobe Online help not available

When help is needed, most of the time, this message pops up:

Ai: Please bring up a context sensitive menu when right clicking a layer

That's it. Just like in Photoshop. I would expect to have all the things I can do with a Layer, when right clicking it in Adobe Illustrator CC 2014's Layer Palette.

Ae: Sequence Layers - an 'order selector' would be convenient.

 After Effects' Sequence Layer Keyframe Assistant lets us place adjacent layers offset in time. The order it does this, is the order in which the layers are selected. When using this feature not everyday, it is hard to remember which order of selection has the expected result.
Wouldn't it be convenient for the user to have a selector?
My proposal:
-Higher Layers First
-Lower Layers First
-Random (!)

The Random option would be nice to make some effects. This should have every layer start at it's own random time, but without any overlaps or blanks.

Ae: Import as Footage or as Composition, why ask twice?

I always wonder why I have to tell After Effects twice how I want it to import multi layer .psd or .ai. When selecting 'Import As Footage' in the first dialog, the second comes up with 'Import Kind Composition'. Then I have to say 'Footage' again. Why? Anyone?

Snap to point broken in Adobe Illustrator CC 2014?

Since the update I have had several situations where the trusted Snap To Point is not working. Drag an Anchor Point to an other Anchor Point, see how the mouse pointer becomes whit to verify that snapping is going to happen. Release the mouse button and… see how the object does not exactly snap. This is best visible when zoomed in at maximum.

Note: this was a multi layer selection.

Input contract violation in After Effects

When switching back and forth between Cinema4d and After Effects (I know, there's Cineware, but that is not yet suitable for power users), making the mistake to re-render (and overwrite) a clip that was already imported in AE will result in a loop of error messages which can only be escaped from by force quitting After Effects.

Wouldn't it be possible to let After Effect just replace the file by a proxy? Or give the user the option to either forget the clip or replace it? A bit more empathy with the user is required.

Photoshop Image Size in pixels with resampling?

For some reason, Photoshop CC 2014 is less flexible in it's image resize possibilities. When Resample is active, pixels is grayed out in the units roll-out selector. Why? I need it.

Unpredictable snapping in Adobe Illustrator

When making a pattern of small circles, a datatreduction technique is to use only two Anchor Points to create a circle. You can do that by placing two Anchor Points excacly on top of each other, and give this path a stroke with round Caps. But I was suprised that Adobe Illustrator CC 2014 does not know how to snap this when Smart Guides is active. See my screen recording.

Why is Photshop still not able to do simple calculations in numerical fields?

Almost every piece of software can do that. But Photoshop comes up with an error.

Sync Settings InDesign, not for New Document?

I Synced Settings in InDesign CC, then opened InDesign CC 2014, and Synced again. Then came this 'Ready to apply' message, without an Apply-button (this can be done only in a document window…?)
Ok, I had to create a document first to Apply the setting for the application.
And after applying, my New Document-dialog does still not reflect my old settings.

This could be so much easier…

No output of SD compositions to Blackmagic Decklink in AE CC 2014

AE CC 2014 makes use of Mercury Transmit. And now it is only possible to view HD compositions via the Decklink, while in earlier versions of AE CC it was possible to automagically upscale SD to HD for output. In the current version the screen stays black…

I just updated to Desktopvideo 10.1.2, but still output of SD compositions via the Decklink Studio 2 does not work.

Is this solved in 10.1.3 beta? Should I try it?

Turn Smart Guides on and off while drawing a path with the Pen Tool in Ai

When drawing a path, Smart Guides can come in handy to align some Anchor Points, but most of the time I need to mix aligned an non aligned points. In that case, it would be very convenient to be able to turn on Smart Guides  (cmd-U), while keeping the Pen Tool active. Right now, activating or deactivating the Smart Guides breaks the path.

Copy Layers in Photoshop to Clipboard

I like the way Photoshop can duplicate layers to another open document.
But once in a while, I want to copy a layer to the clipboard, just like other apps can copy a selection to the clipboard.

Why ain't this possible?

Numeric editing colors in Adobe Kuler

Hi,

Today I decided to make use of Kuler as an inter application color storage. I tried to make a color palette for a certain project, and found out that we can only edit color by using the sliders. Not by typing numbers…

This is experienced in After Effects CC 2014.

I think it's a bug.

Adobe CC: Sync Settings is confusing

Syncing comes in when two devices must reflect the same data. In case of Settings for Adobe CC apps, I would prefer to be able to choose "Put Settings" and "Get Settings". In that way it is easy to decide for yourself wether you are saving or restoring the Preferences.

In the case of Illustrator, Syncing did not do anything. I started my custom tunes Illustrator CC, chose Sync, quit, launched Illustrator CC 2014, chose Sync, and…. nothing. All units in pt, custom document sizes not available.

AE CC: Save templates of Render Settings and Output Module to cloud?

It would be nice if this was possible. Maybe add a button?

Or, like Photoshop does, let AE ask to migrate presets from previous version?

Please name the Channel Strip after the Bus by default in LPX

When selecting Bus 4 for output, LPX makes a channel strip in the mixer calles '(Aux 5)'. Wouldn't it be nice if it was called 'Bus 4'?

C4d - Exclude from a specific camera

Wouldn't it be nice when the Compositing Tag's Exclusion options work for camera's to?
Comes in handy when a POV camera is used, and the object from which it is viewing the scene, blocks the camera.

Monospacing in Text Layers

When using a Text Layer for counting numbers, it would be very usefull to have a switch to fore monospacing (non proportional spacing), so the numbers stay in their place and are not adjusted (kerned) horizontally. The proportional spacing results in a very messy movement.

Better C4D to Photoshop integration

When rendering to .psd, with an Alpha channel, it would be nice if the Alpha-information could be automatically translated to Photoshop-transparency, or a Layer mask..

In Photoshop, I work with Smart Objects all the time. But before I can start compositing several c4d-renders, I first have to open them to convert the Alpha-channel to a Layer-mask.

C4d Expresso/Formula node Radians vs Degrees

When Angle type is set to Degree, we still need to enter 'Pi' in stead of 180º to get the correct results.
Why?

C4d: drag a material to viewport to create a textured background object

Wouldn't it be easy and smart if we could just drag a Material to the camera/perspective Viewport to create a Background Object, with this Material applied?

Right now, dragging a Material to the Viewport results in a 'prohibited' icon.

Let Cinema 4d link output filename to scene filename

In my work for television series, and more specifically when making titles, there is a lot of sequential naming and renaming. Most of the time, I name my output files the same as my scenefiles, to make sure that I can find the right scenefile when a correction or alteration is needed.

Wouldn't it be fantastic when Cinema 4D render settings had a shortcut for that?
My proposal: use wildcards!

For instance, this output path:

Harddisk/Folder/Renders/*

means that it should take my scene file's name (replacing the .c4d by the right extension)

That would make versioning less pain in the ass.

Multiply mix strength not working as expected in C4D shader channel

In Photoshop and other multilayer imaging software, the Multiply layer mode, multiplies the color of the layer with the result of the underlying layers. So red x grey = dark red, and red x black = black. White does not have any influence (red x white = red). So a red colour with a white to black gradient should result in a red to black gradient. This works the same in the C4D material channels.

Logically, when the Multiplication is less strong, the result should be less dark.

But in C4D something strange happens when the Strength of the Multiplication is lower than 100%. This gives a darker result; even black when the Strength is 0%. Does anyone know why this is?

After Effects Keyframing Hue/Saturation Effect

I have always wondered (since AE 3.1) why it is the 'Channel Range' that can be key framed in the Hue/Saturation Effect, and not the individual parameters Hue, saturation and Lightness.

Anyone?

More comfortable Object Buffer interface

Wouldn't it be nice if we could give an Object Buffer a name that will be automatically added to the filename of the render?

Photoshop convert to grayscale via Black & White panel

When choosing Grayscale for a color image in Photoshop, it comes up with this:

Let Illustrator change path direction for non-compund paths

For Compund Paths, AI let the user change the path direction. In previous versions, this was the way to make the fill toggle work. (to make 'holes' in shapes, e.g. the character 'o'). .AI calls this 'Use Even-Odd Fill Rule'. I prefer to use 'fill toggle', since it fills/unfills shapes sequentially. In the new versions it's easy to make the fill toggle work. It's only a click away, in the Attributes panel.

But ok, since a while AI has introduced the fabulous Width Toolto interactively make varying stroke widths.
There are also some presets for varying stoke widths.

Once in a while I like to change the direction of the width envelope, and I was thinking that the change path direction buttons in the Attrubutes panel would do. But that does not work for non-compound paths. And once I choose to make it compound, the buttons are active, but still do not allow me to change direction back and forth.

The only way to change path direction for a single path is to mess around with both the fill toggle-button and the direction buttons.

Wouldn't it be nice when the path direction buttons do what they promise? For bot compound and non-compound paths. And let strokes with a varying width react to the path direction.
